David Joseph Red Fox, born on December 17, 1936, in Poplar, Montana, passed away peacefully on March 18, 2025, at the Genesis Rehabilitation Center of Albuquerque, New Mexico. David's journey through life was marked by a deep devotion to family, a rich professional career, and a strong commitment to his community.

David embarked on a path of service in his early years, dedicating six years of his life to the United States Army, where he attained the rank of SP-4. His military service set a foundation of discipline and responsibility that would carry through in all aspects of his life.

David pursued education at Poplar High School and Lane Community College, laying a foundation that would support his professional endeavors. He contributed significantly to the Fort Peck Tribes and later Western Washington University, demonstrating strong work ethic and a commitment to bettering his community.

In addition to his career, David's personal life was enriched by his interests and hobbies. He cherished spending time outdoors, taking long walks, and feeding ducks. David found joy in attending Pow Wows, laughing and socializing with others, and enjoying breakfast at Village Inn. His warmth and friendliness drew people to him, making him a beloved figure among family and friends.

A dedicated member of St. Thomas Catholic Church in Rio Rancho, New Mexico, David actively volunteered at the Rehabilitation Center of Albuquerque, where he engaged in Bible study and contributed to the spiritual well-being of those around him. His affiliation with the Knights of Columbus further underscored his commitment to serving his community.

David is survived by his loving step-daughter, Veronica D. Red Fox; step-son, Leonard R. Red Fox; and sons, William D. Red Fox and David P. Red Fox. He will be deeply missed by his family and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

David was preceded in death by his father, William J. Red Fox; mother, Mary Yellow Owl; and brother, Willy Red Fox.

A Funeral Service will be held in his memory on April 2, 2025, at Daniels Family Funeral Services - Southern Chapel in Rio Rancho, New Mexico, starting at 10:00 AM. The service will honor a life well-lived, filled with love, laughter, and community service. David Joseph Red Fox’s legacy of kindness and dedication will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him. Interment at the Santa Fe National Cemetery will be determined at a later date and time.

In lieu of flowers, donations are being accepted at Genesis, The Rehabilitation Center of Albuquerque in the name of David Red Fox.
