David Lee Richards

Richards, David Lee David Lee Richards was born on June 17, 1947 in Butler, PA and grew up in Peoria, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert J. and Ruth (Casper) Richards. David is survived by his son, Coady Richards; his love and son's mother, Denise Coady; sister, Trudy (Richards) Stoner and husband David; brother, Robert J. Richards, Jr.; four nephews; and many friends who loved him dearly. David was a decorated combat Vietnam Veteran and served in the U.S. Army from 1968 to 1970. He was the recipient of two bronze stars for his heroism and meritorious service during combat. In recognition of the wounds he sustained in combat, David also received two purple hearts. David was well loved and recognized in the Placitas community where he lived since 1970. He was well known for his kindness and generosity to those in need. David was a co-founder and original member of the Placitas Volunteer Fire Department. David was also a great advocate for the wild horses of Placitas, and he spoke of them often. He would always look forward to sightings of the horses that still roam free on the Placitas hillsides. A celebration of David's life will be held on Saturday, December 8, 2012, from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. at 1420 South Camino Del Pueblo #A, Bernalillo, NM, 87004.
