David Lawrence Steele, 76, currently of Salem, OR died March 18th 2016. “Dave” Steele, loving and doting husband of Janet Lee (Merrifield) Steele, passed away in his home Salem, OR from multiple complications with his health. He is survived by his wife Janet, and his two children, daughter Renee and son Jeff. He is also survived by seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Renee’s family are living in Oregon and Jeff’s family are living in Albuquerque. David worked as an Ironworker in Denver, Colorado until 1976 when he and his family moved to Albuquerque and he pursued a career in the administrative side of construction industries. He ran for Mayor of Albuquerque in 2005, after his retirement. He had a passion for fishing, spent many seasons with his family duck hunting, playing cards with close friends weekly, and playing golf when he had the opportunity. He was a great influence on everyone he came in contact with him throughout his life. He went out of his way to help those God brought into his and his wife’s life, financially, spiritually, and physically. He was a great asset to his community and lived life to its fullest each and every day. His passing will leave a legacy and a great impression on all that had the privilege to be a part of his life. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. "Be Still and Know I Am God." Psalms 46:10
A Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 31, 2016 at 9:00 am followed by a Service at 10:00 am at Desert Springs Community Church, 705 Osuna Rd NE, Albuquerque, NM.
