Charles Lucero, 77, born into this world in Watrous, NM on August 30, 1934, was taken from us to begin his new life with the Lord in Heaven late Saturday night, May 12, 2012. He is survived by his loving wife, Theresa Lucero born in Albuquerque, NM on January 30, 1935. Having married her in 1952 they would have celebrated 60 years of marriage this November. Charles proudly served his country in the Army for five years until he was wounded in action during the Korean Conflict. He was ordained a Deacon of the Roman Catholic Church in May 1987. As an upstanding member of the San Jose community he wholeheartedly and generously provided assistance and guidance to anyone in need. He was the Director of Cemeteries for the Archdiocese of Santa Fe. During that time he built the mausoleum at Mount Calvary Cemetery in Albuquerque, the cemetery at which he will be buried. Throughout all of his life he was a hard worker, full of ambition and vitality, providing everything that he could to raise a wonderful family. He was a strong man, vibrant with love and happiness, never losing focus of family ties and bonds. As any family member could attest to, he was a refreshingly stubborn man that did not allow cancer to take him down without a valiant fight. He was admired by many and he will be missed by all. Preceded in death by his son, Tommy; his mother Delfina; his father Eloy and his great-grandmother, Petra. He is survived by his children, Charles and his wife Kenlynn, Lumar and her husband Juan, Rick and his wife Maria Socorro, Peter and wife his Dora, Patty, Charlene and Jeff; one brother and several sisters; 35 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. A Celebration of Charles��?� life and Rosary will take place at San Jose Catholic Church, 2401 Broadway Blvd SE on Tuesday May 15, 2012 at 6:00 pm. Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday May 16, 2012 at 10:00 am. Pallbearers are his grandsons, Tommy Aragon, Diego Lucero, Christopher Garcia, Elijah Griffin, Peter (Titi) Lucero, and Michael Lucero. Honorary Pallbearers are the rest of his grandchildren. Interment immediately following Mass at Mount Calvary Cemetery. Garcia Mortuary
