More about Dean……..
Dean Thomas Marsh, born March 5, 1989, beloved son, brother, grandson, nephew, uncle, cousin, godparent and dear friend was tragically before his time taken from all those that loved him on January 17. He was 26.
Dean was a quiet, gentle, introspective young man with huge-heart. He was there for anyone who needed help, expecting nothing in return.
Dean, a 2007 graduate from Cibola High played saxophone 4 years in the marching band, and
won numerous musical honors. But his true-love was for the guitar. As a self-taught guitarist, he loved the process of learning, experimenting, as well as designing and building custom guitars.
You could find Dean curled up in his favorite black papas a chair, where he could literally could spend hours playing and experimenting with his many guitars by creating his own unique sound. He also played and wrote arrangements for his band made up his best buds.
Music gave him solace, a time for reflection and clarity.
He was an avid concert enthusiast. Dean must have attended upwards of 100 music concerts/festivals and performances He has seen his favorite bands multiple times, so with good enough fortune to meet and hangout with some of the band members.
On a road trip to Phoenix over Thanksgiving in 2010 he experience a trifecta of concert experiences with his brother Cory seeing three of his favorites Chiodos/Bless the Fall/Atreyu, the full length performance of Pink Floyd “The Wall” with Roger Waters, and TranSiberian Orchestra. Four days of musical bliss for sure!
As a small boy, he had a fascination by figuring out “how things worked” and he had the patience to do just that. He never backed down from facing a project or challenge no matter how big or small.
His talents in construction, repair and remodeling allowed him to have his own “handy-man” business. You can see in his as a reflection in his work and patience. His creativity was also seen in his is drawings, sculpting and detailed woodworking.
A long-time fan of the NHL Colorado Avalanche, he enjoyed watching and analyzing the game with friends and family members. We were on a 30 day trip across Canada when the AVs won the Stanley Cup in 1996. We watched the game 7 in a hotel suite in Niagara Falls Canada and a few days later he visited the Hockey Hall of Fame in Toronto. Dean spent hours looking at all the hockey memorabilia/history (mostly Avs) and got a chance to get his picture taken with the Stanley Cup!
He was preceded in death by grandparents, Dean and Peggy Marsh (Belen), and George (Judd) Phillips of Albuquerque. He is survived by his mother, Tonya and father Todd Marsh, brother Cory, grandmother, Kay Phillips and well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins who will miss him daily.
