They say home is where your heart is… Delbert’s home and heart was in the Children’s Hospital of Colorado with every Doctor, Nurse, Respiratory Therapist, PT/OT/ST, and every receptionist. They all were a part of his family. They took care of him from the day he was born to the day he went to Heaven.

Del loved to be the center of attention, whether it was holding his breath until he turned blue to get you in the room or sticking his left foot up in the air and waving it around. He was the “Diaper King” because if his diaper was even the tiniest bit wet he definitely let you know.

Throughout his days he would do all his therapies, have his play time with big brother JJ, and of course tons of cuddle time. For all the times he had to be alone his musical mobile was his best friend, and sometimes it was the only thing that would make him happy.

Delbert’s passing came too soon from a complication resulting from his congenital heart defect HLHS. In the short 5 months and 29 days we got to be with Del, he underwent a total of 11 surgical procedures, five Open Heart, four Cath procedures, and two ECMO.

Delby fought for his life from day one, and he is stronger than anyone we will ever know. He will always be so deeply loved by so many in the hospital and out. Delbert Clifford Collins fought for his life December 19, 2017 to June 17, 2018, son of John and Stephanie Collins of Rio Rancho, New Mexico.

Delbert was preceded in death by his great-grandfather Delbert Phillip Collins; great-grandfather, Jerry L B Wong; great-grandfather, Paul John Blum, Jr; great-grandfather, Larry Duane Smith. He is survived by his parents, John T Collins and Stephanie Marie Collins; brother, John T Collins, Jr.

A Visitation will be held Monday, June 25, 2018 from 11:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. followed by a Funeral Service at 12:00 p.m. at Daniels Family Funeral Services – Sara Rd Chapel, 4310 Sara Rd SE, Rio Rancho, NM. Interment will follow at Vista Verde Memorial Park.
