DICKERSON- Delmar "Bud" Hoyt Dickerson, 83, of Farmington, passed away Wednesday, March 25, 2009, in Albuquerque. He was born January 19, 1926, in Seminole, Oklahoma, to Charles and Molly Dickerson. He attended Prarie Valley Schools and enlisted in the US Army in his Senior year. He took a high school deferment which allowed him to graduate before reporting for duty. He was inducted June 7, 1944, and reported to boot camp in Fort Polk, Louisiana. He went on to serve as PFC in WWII. He received WWII Victory medal, a good conduct medal, and a theater ribbon. After an honorable discharge from the Army, he returned to Seminole, OK. There he met and married Bonnie Sue Cane in 1948. Together they had three children.
He went to work for Lane Wells, and moved to Farmington in 1956, in the midst of the oil boom. Lane Wells later merged with Dressar Atlas, where he worked his way up to District Manager until he retired. After spending many years retired, and the passing of his wife in 2006, he went back to work full time at Wal-Mart.
He was always an active man. He was a part of many bowling leagues in his earlier days. He loved swimming, and he also enjoyed lunches and a bit of social time with his friends at the Senior Citizen Center, but his truest passion of all was playing a round of golf or simply hitting a "bucket of balls", which he was looking forward to doing soon. Bud was preceded in death by both of his parents, nine siblings, and his wife, Bonnie. He is survived by sons, Keith (Jan) Dickerson of Tuttle, OK, Edward Randall Dickerson of Pittsburgh, PA; and daughter, Becky (Duane) Gustin of Farmington, NM. He is also survived by three granddaughters, Lisa Smith of Phoenix, AZ, Jessica Dickerson of Pittsburgh, PA, and Ginny Gustin of Farmington, NM; two great-grandchildren; and his beloved cat, Annie. His greatest achievements were those he left behind. He will be loved and missed by all. Delmar is in the care of Brewer, Lee & Larkin Funeral Home, 103 E. Ute Street, Farmington. (505) 325-8688
