DeLoy "Dutch" Naeb passed away peacefully at home on November 28th, 2014. He was born February 8, 1934 and lived in Brighton, Colorado until he joined the Navy in 1951. As a teenager, he started stock car racing with his father in Denver. He held several world records and in 1966, won the NHRA Street Eliminator World Championship in Tulsa, Oklahoma with his Corvette, the "Pooch". Cars and racing were his lifelong passion. He moved to Tijeras, NM in 1971 where he became an independent truck driver for many years before driving for Yellow Freight. During the 1980's, he became a pilot and had a Cessna 172 which he loved to fly. In the early 2000's, he resumed racing, this time in a Street Stock, at Sandia Motor Speedway (now Motiva Motor Speedway) in Albuquerque. Seventy years old and still racing! In January 2014, he was inducted into the NHRA High and Mighty Hall of Fame. Later in July, he was honored at Bandimere Speedway for being the first World Champion from NHRA Division Five. He was inducted into the Taylor-Vertex High & Mighty Hall of Fame and his name placed on a granite memorial at Bandimere Speedway. He is survived by his wife Holly of Tijeras, sister Darlene Rowe of Brighton, daughter Amber and husband Karl Isselhard of Tijeras, and four sons: Reinhold of California, Jacob and wife Yuli of Littleton, CO, Kevin and wife Francis, and Chris of Denver, CO; grandchildren Jessicca, Koria, Cody, Cheyenne, Kylie and Jace; and four great-grandchildren. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at Daniels Family Funeral Services, 7601 Wyoming NE, Albuquerque, NM on December 20, at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, a memorial contributions may be made to Presbyterian Healthcare Foundation, Hospice Care, PO Box 26666, Albuquerque, NM 87125.
