Dionisio "Dennis Barela
Dioniso Barela was born on May 30, 1936. He was a devoted and loving husband to Edwina Barela for 54 years, as well as a loving father to his two sons and two daughters, who learned from his example and how lead successful lives. Dionisio passed away on December 17, 2011 after valiantly battling a terminal illness. He was surrounded by his loved ones in the comfort of his home. During his last year, he shared many of his life stories with his children and grandchildren, preparing them for life��?�s challenges in his absence. He was an extremely inspirational figure, showing what love, compassion, and dedication can do in order to bring a family closer together, instilling the ideals of family importance and tradition. Dionisio is survived by his wife Edwina, and his children: Denise and husband Ned, Bryan and wife Betty, Dyanna and husband Bernarr, Dennis and wife Monica. He was blessed to experience the growth of his nine grandchildren: Sarah, Layton, Collin, Spencer, Travis, Justin, Morgan, Maddie and Jacob. He will be remembered and missed by his brothers, Carlos, Tom and Larry Barela and many other beloved family and friends. Dennis was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a devoted member of the Catholic Church. A Rosary will be held at 8:00 am, with Mass at 9:00 am on Thursday, December 22, 2011at Our Lady of Guadalupe, Albuquerque, NM 87107. An Interment will immediately follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery.
