Diana Gallegos Hamm, daughter of Chonita Arellanes and George Gallegos died of cancer on January 11, 2016. She was the sister of Michael Gallegos, Gilbert Gallegos (deceased), and Vionela Maria Gallegos. Diana is survived by her son Kyle, her husband Michael, her nephews Scott, Jerod, Mitchell, Kenneth, Gilbert Jr, and her nieces Beverly and Diana. Diana was born January 19, 1943 in Bernalillo, NM. She served in the U.S. Marine Corps, and as the Secretary to an Ambassador at the U.S. Embassy in Madrid Spain. She was also special education teacher in Albuquerque, NM. She earned a bachelor of arts degree in education from the University of New Mexico. Diana served on the Board of Directors of the Sodality Union for the Archdiocese of Washington, D.C., and she was the Chair of Family Relations for the National Council of Catholic Women. In addition to a devoted mother, she was a devout Roman Catholic and a servant of the Infant Jesus. She recently made her final promise as a secular Carmelite in the Holy Cross Community of the Secular Order of Discalced Carmelites (OCDS). Friends and family are invited to a Vigil service on Sunday January 17 at 6:00 PM in the Church of the Incarnation. A viewing will be held on Sunday at 5:00PM. A rosary is scheduled at 10:00 AM on Monday January 18, 2016 at Church of the Incarnation in Rio Rancho, NM. The rosary will be followed by a funeral mass at 11:00 AM. Church of the Incarnation is located on 2309 Monterrey Road, NE in Rio Rancho, New Mexico.
