Johnson, Diana Jacquelynn (Sroder)
Diana Jacquelynn (Sroder) Johnson, Rio Rancho, NM, age 78, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on March 23, 2016 in hospice care at Presbyterian hospital in downtown Albuquerque, NM. When she was young, the family moved to St. Paul, MN where she grew up and graduated from St. Paul Johnson High School. She attended Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, MN where she graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education. Diana met her husband Clifford William Johnson (from Willmar, MN) at college and they married on April 12, 1958. It is difficult to summarize her life in a few words. She adored her husband, family and friends, and had many roles, hobbies and interests throughout her lifetime: Wife; Mother; Grandmother; Daughter; Sister; Auntie; homemaker; friend; chef; psychologist; storyteller; English teacher; volunteer; flowers; hummingbirds; board game and card player extraordinaire; left handed; gardener; self-taught painter/artist; Women’s club; Jaycees; member of the Lutheran church; computers; traveling; TV/movies; Red Cross; Habitat for Humanity. To those that knew her, above all she was a very engaging, giving and loving person who will be greatly missed by many. Diana was preceded in death by her parents; brother Edward F. Sroder, Jr.; several friends, and extended family. She is survived by her husband of 57 years Cliff; son Theodore Johnson (Natasha, Nicole, Angela) of Milton GA; daughter Catherine Parios (Paul, Diana, Audrey, John) of Orlando FL; niece Sandy (Paul) Remarcke of Camdenton, MO; nephew Gregg (Patti) Sroder of St. Paul, MN, and extended family and friends throughout California, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Nebraska, New Mexico, Ohio, Texas, Washington, and Wisconsin. The loved ones of Diana wish to express deep appreciation and gratitude to all for the help, thoughts, prayers, cards, kind words, smiles, hugs, phone calls, texts, messages, and support during her recent illness and death. Special mention goes to everyone at The Rio Grande retirement community (her most recent ‘adopted’ family) and the staff (doctors, nurses, aides, technicians) of Presbyterian hospital. It was Diana’s wish that her remains be directly cremated. A Memorial Service and Celebration of Life will be held at 7:00 pm on Saturday March 26, 2016 at The Rio Grande retirement center, 2331 Westside Blvd SE, Rio Rancho, NM 87124.
