Norero, Darlene Kay Darlene �Dinie� Norero passed away peacefully surrounded by her family after a 10 month courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Albuquerque on May 12, 1957 to Mike and Carrie Norero. She is survived by her parents; sisters, Karen Easley, Carla Hart; brothers, Tom Norero, Mike Norero; seven nieces; three nephews; numerous grand nieces and nephews. She loved athletics, the outdoors and traveling. Dinie was one of the first members of the Duke City Dashers track team founded by the famed coaches John Baker and John Holland that garnered national attention for their prominence and high US ranking. She later went on to be a top performer on the UNM Lobo women�s track team. Some of her favorite accomplishments were being a member of the 4X100 relay team that set the U.S. National Junior Olympics record in Ann Arbor, Michigan and was invited to the 1976 LA Olympic Trials. Dinie spent much of her free time hiking, kayaking, riding her bike, traveling and spending time with her family that she cherished deeply. She traveled to most states but her fondest trip was to visit and connect with her relatives in Italy. As athletic as she was; she was also admired for her beauty, genuineness and unpretentious kindness. She was the 1974 Del Norte High School Homecoming Queen. Dinie earned her bachelors and masters degrees at UNM and spent her career and excelled as a teacher, educational sales executive and a real estate broker. Dine was first to offer a lending hand to anyone in need. She also was an active volunteer for animal rescue causes. Most of all, she was loved by all and will be immensely missed. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm, Friday, April 26, 2013 at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 1502 Sara Road SE, Rio Rancho, NM. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday, April 27, 2013 at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church.
