In Loving Memory of DON S. ZABEL
Don S. Zabel passed away peacefully at the age of 86 with his loving wife, Frances, at his side on December 26th, 2019.
Born on May 27th, 1933 in Southgate, California to Jess Zabel and Jewell Conklin Zabel. He graduated from High School in Whittier, California in 1952. Don then joined the Army and proudly served his country during the Korean War.
After his discharge from the Army, along with a friend, he owned and operated a donut shop before becoming an independent milkman in California for 58 years.
In his leisure time he enjoyed hunting, fishing and collecting commemorative plates. Don attended Calvary Chapel until his health began to decline.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and brother Robert Zabel.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Frances, who never left his side during his illness. Also surviving him is his daughter, Lesley Stern and husband, Robert, of Auburn California, daughter, Lisa Diamond of Idaho, and son, Dale and his wife, Connie of Puerto Rico, his brother, Ray Zabel and wife, Jan of Mesa, Arizona and sister, Michelle Shames and her husband, Sam of Lake Placid, Florida. He was graced with 7 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. He also leaves behind his 4 constant companions, his dogs, Rocky, Alicia, Oso and Alex.
