Donald D. Hart, 83, of Farmington, died Thursday, Sept. 10, 2009, in Farmington. He was born Feb. 22, 1926, in Colorado City, Texas, to Guy and Billie Hart. Don joined the U.S. Navy in February of 1944, and served aboard the USS Floyd Bennett as a gunner during World War II. After serving his country, he received his GED and attended business college. He went on to become a drywall and paint contractor for more than 40 years. In October of 1969, Don married the love of his life, Letha Werther Hart. His children and his grandchildren were his pride and joy. He said many times that if he had known that his grand kids were so much fun he would have had them first.
Wherever Don was you would always see one of his many dog companions by his side. His church family played an important role in his life. He looked forward to sharing God's Word with the young men at the detention center and going to home visitations on a weekly basis. Don was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Letha Hart, of the family home; sons, Gary Reed and wife, Debbi, of Rockvale, Colo., Kris Hart and wife, Paula, of Las Vegas, Nev., and Korbi Hart and wife, Cami, of Farmington; daughters, Kim Martinez, of Bloomfield, Ginger Jenkins and husband, Tom, of San Tan Valley, Ariz., and Connie Werther, of Farmington. He also is survived by his grandchildren, Mari Beth Garcia, Freddie Garcia (Misty), Eric Martinez, Kasey, Kaleb, Alesha, Heather, Kory, Carol, Lacy, Kynli Hart, Michelle Rodgers (Curtis), Manda Palmer (Bill), Ryan Jenkins, Rusty Jenkins, Levi Fowler, Marcus and Brittany Hunsberger; and seven great-grandchildren. Pallbearers are Kory Hart, Kaleb Hart, Rusty Jenkins, Ryan Jenkins, Freddie Garcia, Eric Martinez, Albert Romero and Mike Lovato. Honorary pallbearers are Butch Wilson, Tom Jenkins, John Scott, Mike Davidson, Larry Baker, Stan Barnett, Dick Roberts, Jim Crowder, Frank Blackmer, Steve Kinnard, Bud Nelson, Dick Smith, Eric Nelson, WJ Cole and his extended church family from Crouch Mesa Baptist Church and First Baptist Church of Kirtland.
