Donald D. Knowles

KNOWLES_Donald D. Knowles, 78, a resident of Rio Rancho for the past 32 years, passed away on Wednesday, March 4, 2009. Donald was born August 2, 1930 in Boone, Iowa the son of Frank and Vera Lyndquist Knowles. He served in the United States Navy. He had been an engineering technician for AT&T at the FAA Center for 39 years. Don was also an avid gardner and he loved the Chicago Bears. He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Robert Knowles. Don is survived by his wife of 30 years, Marie N. Knowles of Rio Rancho; children, Michael Knowles and wife Twila of Hedrick, IA, Janet Knowles of Ottumwa, IA, Erick Knowles of Austin, TX, Roger Leithead and wife Faith of Rio Rancho, Kevin Leith and wife DeAnn of Albuquerque, and Wayne Knowles and wife Cindy of Gilbert, AZ; three grandchildren, Kelly Heller and husband T.J., Steven Knowles, and Troy Ward and wife Jenny; six great grandchildren, Kiley, Noah, Emelie, Megan, Lisa, and Adam; one brother Ken Knowles and wife Lois of Des Moines, IA; and several nieces and nephews. The Visitation will be held on Friday, March 6, 2009 from 4 PM to 7 PM in the Chapel of Daniels Family Funeral Services, Sara Rd. at Meadowlark Ln., Rio Rancho. Pallbearers will be Roger Leithead, Kevin Leith, Wayne Knowles, Erick Knowles, Mike Knowles, and Alex Tzankow. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Donald's name to the Calvary Lutheran Church, 305 Unser Blvd. SE, Rio Rancho, New Mexico 87124 or to a charity of ones choice.
