Donna Soleo, resident of Tijeras, New Mexico, age 65, passed away May 25, 2024, while vacationing in North Carolina. She was born November 24, 1958, to her parents, Barbara O’Neil (Noyes) and Edward O’Neil, in Connecticut.
She married her husband of twenty-six years, Jim Soleo, October 24, 1998 in Las Vegas, NV.
She spent most of her childhood in Albuquerque before leaving home. She graduated from Sandia High School in Albuquerque, Donna served in the United States Army attaining the rank of Sergeant (E-5). She began her career in the Aviation as an Electronic Navigational Communication Technician, and She served her country with honor for four years. Following her time in the Army, she continued an avionics career with General Dynamics, Kimberly Clark Aviation, and Bombardier.
She is survived by her loving husband, Jim Soleo;,and six children in their blended family:
Chad Soleo and wife (Sandie) of Alta Loma, CA, Jimmy Soleo living in the Netherlands, Sarah Flanders and husband (Jonathan) of Statesboro, GA, Katie Soderberg and husband (Tadd) of Hollywood, MD, Todd Paananen of North Richland Hills, TX, and Michael Soleo of Kansas City, MO; her mother, Barbara O'Neil; her sister, Kathy O'Neil; her 8 grandchildren: Kailee, A.J., Frankie, Emilia, Gigi, Christian, Josephine, and Aron (a grandson she never met, but loved just the the same); her four- footed- baby, Bella; and many other family and friends.
Donna’s hobbies included playing cards, especially “Up and Down the River,” playing Rummikub, Cruising, and RV-ing with Jim. More than anything she loved spending time with the grandkids and spoiling them. In fact, she would rather entertain (and be entertained by) her grandkids than any adult. She lived for them and loved them all!
Donna would have called herself a cat person for much of her life, that is until the day she met Bella, a long-haired German Shepherd who quickly rose to “baby” status in her heart. They were inseparable. There remained, of course, room in her heart for Caramel and Cocoa, her excitable cats
Donna’s heart, while realizing its physical limitation, had endless capacity for loving. Family was her “Fountain of Youth.” She loved, was loved and will be missed.
As all of the family knows, with a smile on her face, she would always say "It is, what it is”.
