Dora Rivera

Rivera, Dora 88, passed away peacefully at her home and surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, May 15, 2013. She was born in Tokay, NM on January 27, 1925 to Carlos and Adela (Avila) Soto. Dora was a life long resident of Socorro. She was a very loving and caring person. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend to all. She always welcomed everyone with open arms. Dora served in the Foster Grandparent Program for over 10 years and she loved it. She enjoyed cooking and sewing. She loved watching baseball, especially when her children and grandchildren played. Dora enjoyed watching the birds and she admired all flowers. She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Nicholas Rivera Jr.; her sons, Arturo Rivera; and Leo Rivera; her brothers, Carlos Soto; Edmundo Soto; and Arturo Soto; and her sister, Rebecca Hidalgo. Dora is survived by her daughters, Diana Rivera and companion, Larry Lujan; and Sylvia Rivera; her sons, Michael Rivera and companion, Patty Besse; and Martin Rivera; her grandchildren, Leonard Rivera and wife, Sandra; Leon Rivera and wife, Marie; Melissa Amaro; Marcia Amaro; Mario Amaro and wife, Pam; Chrystal Haley; Kenneth Haley-Rivera; Nicholas Rivera; Andrew Rivera; Michelle Rivera; Daniela Rivera; and Lorinda Rivera; her brother, Angel Soto and wife, Mary; and her sisters in law, Virginia Soto; and Ramona Soto. Dora also enjoyed her great grandchildren, Alysia Torres; Ronny Baca; Agusta Amaro; Jonathan Baca; Jordan Chavez; Tristen Chavez; Brandon Amaro; Chailynn Amaro; Alex Amaro; Macayla Amaro; Joseph Rivera; Sienna Rivera; Kailey Montano; Chris Gallegos; and Devin Rivera; and many other loving family members. A Holy Rosary will be recited on Monday, May 20, 2013 at 7:00 pm at San Miguel Catholic Church, 403 El Camino Real, Socorro. The Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated on Tuesday, May 21, 2013 at 10:00 am also at San Miguel Catholic Church with Father Andrew Pavlak as Celebrant. Interment will take place in the San Miguel Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers are Leonard Rivera, Leon Rivera, Kenneth Haley-Rivera, Mario Amaro,Nicholas Rivera, and Andrew Rivera. Honorary pallbearers are Jonathan Baca, Ronny Baca, Agusta Amaro, Brandon Amaro, Michelle Rivera, Daniela Rivera, Jordan Chavez, and Tristen Chavez.
