Doreen Pugliese

Doreen (Welsh) Pugliese, age 62, of Sandia Park, passed away Sunday, February 18, 2018 at the Lovelace Heart Hospital in Albuquerque.  A selfless, devoted Air Force spouse, she moved to New Mexico in 1996 with Joe, her loving husband of 41 years, and their sons, Joe and Danny.  She was a beloved wife, mother, and friend to many, with a generous heart, kind spirit, and gentle soul.  She was a Red Cross Volunteer at several military bases during the years, comforting our troops and the families of those serving. She enjoyed family time, did lots of traveling, and spent many years as a caregiver to son Danny, who had significant medical issues and thrived on mom’s loving care. She was also very proud of son Joe, who graduated from the University of New Mexico and is now serving in Germany with the U.S. Air Force. She loved the holidays, especially Christmas, in the company of family and friends—made more special with a zillion lights and soft, falling snow in the Sandia Mountains.  The grandchildren, Jalin and Darron, will always remember Grandma’s amazing Easter baskets! She was preceded in death by parents Tom and Doris Welsh, and her wonderful brothers Tom, Rick, and Ed.  She is survived by husband Joe, son Joe and his wife Pelai, grandchildren Jalin and Darron, brother Jerry, father-in-law Sam, and sisters-in-law Helen, Tina, and Leah.  A celebration of Doreen’s life will be held at Daniels Funeral Home, 7601 Wyoming Blvd. NE, Albuquerque on Mon, 26 Feb at 2:00pm.
