Dorothy Akers

Akers, Dorothy Age 97, passed away March 21, 2014. She was born on April 7, 1916, in Cleveland, OH, to Hettie and Joseph. Dorothy is survived by her nephew, Robert Akers; niece, Marion Akers Simon, as well great and great-great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother, Hettie; brother, Robert; nephew, Charles; dear friend, Mara Shkil. Dorothy and Mara left Cleveland, OH for Albuquerque more than 30 years ago where they continued their home-based catalog business. After Dorothy retired she worked at, and later volunteered at the Senior Center in Rio Rancho where she gave art lessons. She was a published author and artist. She possessed a dry, charming sense of humor which attracted many friends. She had a long and loving life and she and her family were appreciative of the care she received at Skies Healthcare for 8 years. No public services have been scheduled at this time.
