On Sunday, December 20, 2020, Dorothy Bender passed away at the age of 89 surrounded by her loved ones. She was born in New York City, NY on April 2, 1931. 

 

Dorothy was Edgewood’s first administrative assistant for many years, tutored children, volunteered at the US Forest Service, traveled the world to numerous countries, hiked the Grand Canyon at the age of 70, served in her church, volunteered at the Tijeras Pueblo, spent summers volunteering at Lake Tahoe, and shared her love of music and singing by performing with multiple choirs throughout New Mexico as well as her church.

 

Her kind spirit, loving nature and joyous presence are just a few of the traits people  most remember her for. She touched countless lives with her inspiring adventures, generosity and driven personality that always ventured to try something new. She most enjoyed spending time with her extended family and singing alongside her loving spouse Lynn every chance she got. 

 

Dorothy is survived by her adoring spouse Lynn Bender, three children Susan, Carol and Michael, 14 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and many other loving extended family.
