Our loving mother died on December 7, 2011. Part White Mountain Apache, she was born at Cooley?s Ranch in northern Arizona. Her father died when she was 11 months old and, at 18 months of age, her mother, Pearl Cooley, brought her to Albuquerque where she lived until the day she died. She always spent her childhood summers reunited with her extended family in Arizona?s White Mountains. She graduated from Albuquuerque High School and married into the Galbreth family, who owned Galbreth Furniture. There she began her career in retail sales, which she loved. Following her retirement, her trips across the country with her husband Al were her great joy, gaining new friends along the way. Dorothy?s devotion to her family and friends, and her boundless energy and generous support she tirelessly gave to all around her, were deeply appreciated and will be sorely missed by all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Pearl Cooley, son Terrell, and husband Al Chapman. She is survived by her loving son Jarrett Galbreth, whose wife, Ruth, gave Dorothy much tender care and friendship; granddaughter Tonya Galbreth and her daughter Tana; stepchildren Susan Lovato , John and Harry Chapman , and their 12 children and 14 grandchildren. The family sends sincere thanks to Manzano del Sol for their care and compassion. Gravesite service to be held on December 17 at 1 p.m. at Fairview Memorial Park at 700 Yale SE. Dorothy's care entrusted to Daniels Family Funeral Services, 1100 Coal Ave SE. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
