Dorothy Louise Ginther

Dorothy Louise Ginther, 1923-2012. Dorothy Ginther passed away, quietly, in her sleep, at UNM hospital at 6:45 A.M., Friday morning, June 22nd, 2012. Born in Norwalk, Connecticut, Dorothy resided in Rowayton, CT, for thirty seven years before moving with her husband, Raymond D. Ginther, to Rio Rancho, New Mexico in 1973. Dorothy Ginther has lived the past two years in Tijeras with her son Kenneth R. Ginther and daughter-in-law, Joy Gwynne Ginther. She will be deeply missed. Her beloved husband, Raymond D. Ginther, passed away, suddenly on their 60th wedding anniversary in 2004. Dorothy was active in the Elk's Ladies for many years. She was a member of Paradise Methodist Church until moving to Tijeras where she attended services at MountainValley Church when her failing health allowed. She was a loving mother with a wonderful sense of humor which kept her and those around her laughing and smiling through 89 years of vibrant life. May she keep on laughing as we keep on loving her forever. She is survived by her two children, two grandchildren and two great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Her son Kenneth Ginther lives in Tijeras, NM. Ken's son, Demian Ginther and his daughter, Lexie live in Albuquerque. Dorothy's daughter, Janet Simmel, lives with her daughter, Heather Guzzi and her granddaughter, Katelee in Milford, CT. One of six siblings, Dorothy is also survived by two nieces, Patty Quick of Rio Rancho and Elaine Zarcone of Wisconsin; Kerry Quick of Colorado Springs, Billie and David, Sharon and Joyce Winters and Barbara Felter . On her husband's side, she is survived by her sister-in-law, Mildred Tripp of Georgia and her children, Marivin Tripp of Idaho, Nancy Downes of Georgia, Kathy Hartzell and Susie Hopson both of Florida, also, her niece Landry and family and nephew, Charles Ginther. Dorothy will be cremated and her ashes interred along side her husband at the Vista Verde Memorial Park in Rio Rancho. Memorial services will be announced when all distant relatives and friends of the family have been notified.
