Dorothy "Gogs" Bonacorsa

Dorothy “Gogs” Bonacorsa passed away on May 12, 2020 in Albuquerque, NM at the age of 98.

Dorothy is survived by daughters, Paula F. Phagan and husband, Dale of Corrales, NM and Donna M. Calles of Albuquerque, NM; 5 grandchildren; and 4 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Philip “Bono” F. Bonacorsa and son, Philip “Tip” S. Bonacorsa.

Dorothy was born on September 28, 1921 in Flushing, NY to Clara and Stephen Gaal. She graduated from P.S. 120 Elementary School in 1934 and in 1938 she graduated from Newtown High School. She married Phillip F. Bonacorsa on February 23, 1941 in Flushing, NY for 63 beautiful years.

Her daughters remember her as a kind and generous mother, who encouraged them to pursue their dreams. Dorothy loved cooking, cake decorating, and playing cards, especially bingo. She was the founder of “The Canasta Club”. She was also an active and dedicated member of the Risen Savior Catholic Church in Albuquerque, NM and was part of the Parish Enrichment team. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

A Memorial Mass will take place at 10:00 am on Friday, September 24, 2021 at Our Lady of Sorrows – 301 S Camino Del Pueblo, Bernalillo, NM 87004. An Interment will follow later that day at Santa Fe National Cemetery.
