Dorothy Mae Nielsen

Dorothy Mae Nielsen Dorothy Nielsen, 89, passed away peacefully at Lovelace Westside Hospital on January 16, 2011. She was born on February 10, 1921 in Gretna Nebraska to Marvin & Myrtle Dotson. Dorothy married the love of her life, Vernon J. Nielsen on June 24, 1939, in Kimball Nebraska. They enjoyed sixty eight wonderful years together. Prior to retiring in 1976 and moving to Southern California, Dorothy and Vernon lived in Laramie, Wyoming for 30 years. After the passing of her beloved husband in 2007, Dorothy moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico with her daughter and son-in-law in 2008. She enjoyed the staff, friendship, arts, crafts and many activities and outings at Share Your Care in Rio Rancho, NM. Dorothy was a devoted wife and mother, a talented seamstress and baker. She enjoyed bowling, golfing and family games. Dorothy is survived by her son Larry Nielsen and wife Nadine of Burlington Massachusetts, daughter Diana Swanson and husband Don of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Grandchildren Tina Donahue and husband Richard of Cathedral City, California, Natalee Bushen and husband Kirk of Tewksbury, Massachusetts, J.D. Eickbush of Gillette, Wyoming, and Troy Nielsen and wife Lucy of Atlanta, Georgia. Great Grandchildren include Cindi, Mark, and Matthew Donahue, Devon and Shayla Eickbush, and Myles, Stella and Esther Nielsen. Her memorial service will be held on Friday, January 21, at 3:00 p.m. at the Daniels Family Funeral Home on 2400 Southern Blvd, Rio Rancho, NM. Dorothy will be missed by all whose lives she touched.
