Douglas Gail Payton passed away peacefully with his family by his side in the early morning of January 9th, 2016.

He is survived by his beloved wife and best friend of 36 years, Ann Payton (AnnieAnn), including his two canine kids Mollie and Ollie.

Surviving him are also his son Orlando Payton and wife Novella, his daughter Juanita Brooks and (fiancée) Travis Wilson, stepdaughter Antoinette and husband Paul Martinez, grand children Jake, Laile, and Luke Brooks, Ariel and Matt Payton. Step grandchildren Josh and Johnathon Ortiz, , Briana, Venessa and Veronica Quiroz. Also surviving are his brothers Marick Payton and wife Judith from Mexico, Ken Payton Truth or Consequences, N.M, Greg Payton and wife Diane, Taos N.M, and Bryce Payton and partner Josef from London, England.

Douglas was born in Ottawa, Illinois and raised in Overbrook, Kansas. He was preceded in death by his father Judge Dwight Payton, and mother Gladys Langdon of Aztec, New Mexico.

Aside from his true love for his wife, grand-kids and canine kids, he loved to fly, dine out and occasionally assisting paying his share of Casino Utilities "joke."

During his school days, Doug and his brothers were very active in the operations of their fathers printing company, the daily "Aztec Independent Review," and also in various locations throughout New Mexico. While serving in the U.S. Army, he was assigned to the Department of Psychology where he completed the Clinical Psychology Procedures Course from Brooks Army Medical Center, Ft Sam Houston, Texas.

He started his cable TV career with partner Jim Harper at San Juan Cable. His job was to fly various parts to different job locations throughout the States. After several years with the company, Doug continued on to Community Cable in Las Vegas, Nevada, which was owned by Jack Kent Cook, owner of the NFL Football team, the "Washington Redskins." Coincidentally happens to be Doug's favorite team.  In 1986 he returned to Albuquerque and continued his Cable Career with Jones Inter-cable, which merged with Comcast Cable and was employed there until his retirement in January 2008.

Cremation has taken place. No services will be held, per Douglas's request.
