Doyle E. Baxter, 80, of Bloomfield, died on Friday, June 3, 2011, in Bloomfield. He was born on Aug. 1, 1930, in Garza County Texas, the son of Hubert and Artie Baxter. Doyle enlisted in the Marines in 1946, and was honorably discharged in 1948. He worked for 42 years for Great Western Drilling Company in the Rocky Mountain and West Texas areas. He loved fishing, going to Lake Powell and gardening. He also was a collector of antique cars and coins. One of his favorite things to do was to have a family fish fry. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hubert and Artie Baxter; sisters, Thelma Baxter and Zula Partlow; grandparents, Ben and Lula Altman and William C. and Mary Elizabeth Baxter; one granddaughter and one great-grandson. He is survived by his wife, Verna; sons, Doyle W. Baxter (Kathy) and Darrell Baxter; daughters, Phyllis (David) Young, Cynthia (Mike) Paschall and Annette (Richard) Davis; 16 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. Pallbearers are six of his grandsons. Arrangements are with Cope Memorial Chapel
