Dr. Frederick G. Blottner

Dr. Frederick G. Blottner, age 84 passed away Monday, May 15, 2017.  He was born in Richmond, Va. on May 27, 1932 to Herman and Gwynn Blottner.  Frederick attended Virginia Polytechnic Institute for his BS and MS in Aeronautical Engineering and obtained his Doctorate in Engineering Mechanics from Stanford University.  He spent 42 years as a research scientist at Sandia National Labs.  

Frederick is survived by his wife Myra; his children
Laura Christine Elliott and Hudson of Escondido Ca. and Cheryl Ann Papiernik and Robert of Gilbert Az; his brother The Rev. William E. Blottner of Farmville , Va, his nephews Paul and Mark Blottner and his niece Mary McCarthy.

Frederick's passions in life were anything to do with airplanes, bike riding, family vacations all over the world, photography, sports, and his love of ice cream.

Celebration of the life for Fred Blottner will be held Saturday, July 15, 2017, 2:00 p.m., at St. John's Episcopal Cathedral, at 3rd and Silver. A reception and Ice Cream Social will follow services.
