Dr. Jane C. Pitts passed away on Friday May 7, 2010. She was born on September 19, 1956 in Fountain Inn, South Carolina to Wilton Cook and Hester Davis Cook. She was 54. Dr. Jane was a practicing physician, devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She was dedicated to her patients and her medical practice. Once a Cibola County Commissioner and a former Chief of Staff of the local hospital she never thought of how to better herself, but rather, she thought about the others she served and represented; whether the people of Cibola County, the patients in her office or Cibola General Hospital. She was actively involved with the ARC of New Mexico and the New Mexico Medical Society. She was a member of the AMA along with other organizations. She is survived by her husband Dr. David Pitts of the family home. Her children: Daniel Pitts of Albuquerque, Sarah Ward and her husband Jim of Milan, Erin Pitts and Sam Pitts both also reside at the family home in Grants, NM. Ginny Foreman and her husband Jonny of Fredericksburg, Virginia. Abby Walsman and her husband Steve of Atlanta, Georgia. Her Mother: Hester Cook of Liberty Township, Ohio. One Brother: John Cook and his wife Tammy also of Liberty Township, Ohio. Eleven grandchildren also survive her. She was preceded in death by her father; Wilton Cook and her father-in-law William R. Pitts, M.D. Pallbearers include; Dan Pitts, Jim Ward, John Miller, Mike Harper, Vinu Alexander, M.D. and Jered Mitchell. Honorary pallbearers include; John Cook, James Ward and William Ward. Memorial contributions can be made in her name to ARC of New Mexico, or to the charity of your choice.
