Dwayne J. Erks

ERKS- Dwayne J. Erks, 82, a longtime resident of Rio Rancho, NM, passed away on January 16, 2011 with his loving family by his side. Dwayne was born on December 17, 1928 to John and Mathilda (Schmidt) Erks of Akron, IA. He was raised on the family’s farm in Iowa where he developed his strong work ethic. He served our country in the US Army from 1951 until 1953. Dwayne then began his career in the newspaper industry by working for the Sioux City (IA) Journal. He then moved to the El Paso (TX) Times. Dwayne will be remembered as a loving and dedicated husband, father and grandfather. Dwayne was a kind and patient man with great integrity. In his life, he had passion for traveling the country, researching his rich family history, photography, and creating metal art. A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, January 19, at Daniels Family Funeral Services, 4310 Sara Road SE, Rio Rancho, NM. Interment with military honors will follow at Vista Verde Memorial Park, Rio Rancho, NM. Pallbearers will be Eric Williams, Peter Sype, Dan Williams, Rachel Williams, Alyssa Williams, and Russell Sype.
