Edd B. Angel

Edd “Rowdy” B. Angel, a resident of Albuquerque, NM since 1956, went home to be with the Lord at the age of 91 on Friday, August 23, 2024. He was born on November 28, 1932 in Franklin, NC to Carl L. and Lura Cloer Angel. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter Carol A. Ortiz; and his three brothers, William P. Angel, Delbert W. Angel, and John W. Angel. 

He is survived by his two daughters, Jeannette C. Kearny and husband Daniel (Kelly) Kearny, and Laura Lynn Banda; former spouses, Betty J. Angel and Callie Sue Adams; three grandchildren, Eric N. Banda, Angel N. Kepple, and Larinda C. Kearny; great-grandson, London B. Daniels; his dog Saber; numerous nieces and nephews; and many other family members and friends. 

Edd joined the U.S. Navy in 1952 and served as a SN (Seaman) in the Korean war. During his time of service he received the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Service Medal (3 Stars), and the United Nations Service Medal. He served his country with honor. 

After serving in the Navy he settled in Albuquerque and eventually found his niche as a truck driver hauling heavy equipment for Rust Tractor and worked there from 1972-1988. He then went on to work for ABF Freight from 1988-1997, from which he retired. 

He was a member of the Gold Wing Road Riders Association - Chapter C for seven years. He was also a member of the American Legion - Post 69, the VFW, and Teamsters Local 492. 

Edd loved riding his motorcycle and watching football (his favorite teams were the 49’ers, the Saints, and the Panthers). He enjoyed watching car and drag races, old westerns and sitcoms, playing golf and the lottery. 

He will be missed dearly by all who knew him!

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, September 16, 2024 at Daniels Family Funeral Services at 3113 Carlisle Blvd. NE, Albuquerque, NM 87110, followed by a reception at 3:00 p.m. at the American Legion Post #69, 9000 4th Street, NW, Albuquerque, NM 87114. Please join us for food and drinks following the services - the last round will be on Rowdy.

Interment will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 20, 2024, at Santa Fe National Cemetery, 501 N Guadalupe Street, Santa Fe, NM 87501.
