Edmundo Gutierrez

Edmundo Gutierrez, also known as Mundo, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on May 16th, 2023 in Socorro, New Mexico. He was born on November 21st, 1935, in Santa Barbara, Chihuahua, Mexico.

Edmundo married his wife Eustaquia Medina in 1956 in Parral, Chihuauaha, Mexico and she continued being the centerpiece of his life for 67 years. Edmundo attended public school in Mexico and worked as a miner before retirement. 

Edmundo was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and friend, to everyone who knew him. He was well known throughout Socorro as a friendly and outgoing fisherman and outdoorsman. He enjoyed his years of retirement spending time with family, listening to norteño music, eating, and making people laugh. He loved cracking jokes and playing cards with family and friends or on his own. He enjoyed driving the backroads or to the flea market or plaza looking for friends to catch up with. He will always be remembered for his great stories and funny jokes he would share with everyone. His kind smile and friendship was known to many. There were no limits for him to make friends across generations and languages. He was also known for bringing his kind heart and sense of humor to children.

Mundo is preceded in death by his brother Pablo Gutierrez of Socorro and sisters Berta and Estella of Mexico.
