Franklin, Edna Amelda a fifty eight year resident of Albuquerque, passed away on Sunday, April 28, 2013. Amelda was the youngest of nine children born to Nannie May Fox Spikes and William Lafayatte Spikes on February 28, 1926 in Kingston, OK. She married Sol Franklin Jr. in 1947 after his service in WWII. Amelda is a graduate of the University of Texas and spent her career as a first grade school teacher. She was an avid bridge player and Docent with the Museum of Albuquerque and loving wife and mother. Amelda is survived by her children, Susan Maxberry of Lawton, OK., April Price of Albuquerque, NM., and Tod Franklin of Dallas,TX.; sister in laws, Joanna Dodge of El Paso, TX, Ann Franklin of Carrolton, TX.; grandchildren, Christopher Rockhold of Lawton, OK, Ethan Price of Hawaii, Ryan Price of Albuquerque, NM, Kameron and Logan Franklin of Dallas, TX; daughter in law, Karen Tepera Franklin of Dallas, TX. and many nieces and nephews. Amelda will be deeply missed by her family. She suffered in her later years from Alzheimer's disease and donations to the Alzheimer's Association, 9500 Montgomery Blvd NE #121 Albuquerque, NM 87111 are deeply appreciated in lieu of flowers and gifts.
