Edna D. Zaman, 83, passed away Wednesday, January 18, 2017 in her home in Socorro, in the same room where six years earlier her beloved husband Shamsuz had also passed away. Edna was born in La Joya, NM on October 14, 1933 to Pedro and Alicia Aragon Baca.  Throughout her life, Edna was a loving and devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.  She was quick to smile and laugh, and was always willing to help others.   Edna enjoyed long walks and hikes, especially in the mountains and through her beloved "fields" where she had tended sheep as a little girl. Having been born and raised on a ranch, she had a lifelong love of and appreciation for animals, for gardening, and for the enchanting New Mexico countryside. But Edna's greatest love was for her family.   And so, after having lived in seven different states throughout her life, Edna and Shamsuz retired to Socorro in 1994 to be close to family. And while towards the end of her life walking and gardening became too difficult for her, she was still able to enjoy and be lifted up by frequent visits from family and friends. Edna is survived by her children, Jon K. Zaman and wife Lorry and Zobeida Eye and husband Kurt; grandchildren, Kevin, Alex and Molly Hunt, Nicole Andraka and husband Ben, Philip Zaman and James Zaman;  great-granddaughter, Jaden Andraka; sisters, Ruth Chavez, Brei Baca and wife Herme, Miriam Armijo and husband Luis, Lida Manning; and brothers, Johnny Baca, Richard Baca and wife Sylvia and Tomas Baca and wife Maria. Service will be held on Monday, January 23, 2017, 6:00 pm at  Daniels Family Funeral Services - Socorro Chapel, 309 Garfield St, Socorro.
