Edward David Benavides

BENAVIDES_ Edward David Benavides, age 58, passed away Thursday, January 4, 2013 in Albuquerque, NM. Ed was born September 30, 1954 in Austin, TX to Eleazar and Benina Ortega. (Najar) Benavides. He had been a resident of Albuquerque since 1966. Ed is remembered for his fun sense of humor, especially his quick wit. He also developed a skill for �tinkering� with electronics starting with stereos, eventually transferring that to computers. He is also known for a couple of other things. Ed was an award-winning, safe driver. He drove bakery deliveries and had a 34 year driving record without causing an accident. The main thing about Ed, though, was his love of music. Ed was a gifted musician and his passion for music included playing and composing. The piano/keyboard was Ed�s instrument of choice. Ed is survived by his children; Melissa Gray, Joshua Benavides, Amanda Benavides and the mother of his children, Cinda. He is also survived by his grandson, Zachary Gray, his parents, Eleazar and Benina; brothers and sister; Andy Benavides, Michael Benavides, Susie Velazquez and numerous nieces and nephews, friends and co-workers. A Celebration of Ed�s life will be 2 p.m., Sunday, January 13, 2013 at Daniels Family Funeral Services, 3113 Carlisle Blvd NE in Albuquerque. A Reception will immediately follow at the funeral home.
