Our mother Eduvijen "Edwina" Sanchez Moya, age 90, passed away Tuesday, January 23, 2024, in Albuquerque NM. She was born October 17, 1933, to her parents Maria Chavira and Ignacio Sanchez in Tome, NM.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 73 years, Victor Moya; her parents, her brothers, Freddie, and Gabriel Sanchez; and her son-in-law, Leonard Baca.
She is survived by her six children and their spouses, Joe Moya (Cathie Moya), Ray Moya (Tina Moya), Carlos Moya, Isabel Trujillo (Eloy Trujillo), Roberta Zubia, and Mary Baca; her 16 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great grandchildren her sisters, Criselda, Bertha, Cathie, and Viola; her brothers, Felix, and Henry; and her 3 sister-in-laws, Chris Thompson, Rosela Moya, and Martha Moya.
Our mother was a happy, funny person, dedicated to Jesus Christ and her family. She was the eldest of 9 children. Growing up, she worked in the fields and attended school until 8th grade.
She met and married Victor Moya when she was seventeen years old on October 24, 1949. They had six children whom she adored with unconditional love. After came 16 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren, and 5 great-great grandchildren. They all enjoyed her singing. Eduvijen had many beloved nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.
She loved her job as a caregiver at ARCA. Eduvijen was also a member of San Jose Catholic Church.
She helped take the elderly for groceries, praying the rosary at nursing homes, cleaning the church, and feeding the hungry. She attended mass every Sunday, until she couldn’t. Our mom will live in our hearts forever and so will her songs. We miss you mom!
Thank you, Fresenius Dialysis, PACE and Roadrunner Hospice staff!
