Elaine O. Rodey 94 resident of Albuquerque, New Mexico formerly of Mesa Az died February 18,2025, surrounded by loved ones at home . Elaine was born on November 4,1930 in Teaneck NJ ( at home ) Elaine was the last survivor of her immediate family. We always laughed saying “ she did everything by precision “. In todays world, she would have been considered OCD. That showed in her sewing ( gold thimble award in college ) and in her love of baking. She baked over 3000 ( and yes they were counted ) Christmas cookies that were shared with friends during the holiday season. She was a faithful volunteer at Presbyterian Hospital information desk in Albuquerque NM. for many years . Her precision showed in her countless counted cross stitch masterpieces , and knitted items. There was always a 1000 piece jigsaw puzzle set up and you could sit there for a minute or hours just looking for that piece. She lived on the 14 th green of the Sunland Village East golf course in Mesa Az for 25 years with the love of her life Ray and was proud to tell anyone about her 3 holes in one.
In 2020 Elaine moved back to Albuquerque to be closer to family. She couldn’t find a 55 and above place close to family to live so she had a house built.
While living in Albuquerque she became a community volunteer for Assistance League of Albuquerque TLC group and had a goal of hemming 5 blankets a day, 100 a month. These blankets were donated to UNMH along with countless baby hats. Elaine was so proud of her accomplishments of 800 blankets hemmed for a year. ( yep counted )
