Elbert Bert"" Edward Williams

Elbert Edward Williams, "Bert", 79, of Aztec, NM, went peacefully to be with the Lord on Tuesday, September 8, 2009. He was surrounded by family at San Juan Regional Medical Center in Farmington. Born in Levelland, Texas, December 16, 1929 to George Wesley Williams and Viola Frances Thorp Williams. Bert was a well accomplished ASE Mechanic and Instructor. He loved music and had a fondness for stringed instruments. In his spare time he would refinish old fiddles and play his harmonica. In retirement he worked many years as a volunteer for the Parks and Recreation Department in Colorado and New Mexico. He was always fixing something and truly enjoyed helping others in need. Bert was a loving brother, faithful Father, Grandfather, Uncle and friend to so many. He found happiness in the simple things in life and pure joy in being surrounded by his family. His real home was at the lake with his fishing pole in one hand, pipe in the other and sweetheart, Alice, by his side. Everyone who knew him loved him and will always remember his happy blue eyes, loving smile and cheerful chuckle that was so contagious. Bert loved to laugh and sing and joke, his kindheartedness and generous ways will live on through many generations. Bert has brought much joy to so many, we are forever grateful for the memories we have all shared with our Brother, Father, Papa and dear friend. Bert is survived by his lifetime love, Alice Laver, his children, David Williams and wife Terri of Roseburg, OR, Donna Hill of Osh Kosh, WI, Becky Tobey of Albuquerque and Guy Williams of Grand Junction, CO. Also surviving are Grandchildren, Anngie Sorrells, Shelli Heard, Stephen Tobey, Scott Tobey. Bert had 6 great Grandchildren, Micah, Isaiah, Levi, Aiden, Lydia and Braelyn, brothers, Don Williams of Luling, TX and George Williams, wife Charlotte of Lubbock, TX, along with many cousins and nieces and nephews. He has joined his brothers, Eligah "Lydge", Walter, Pete, Wayne and sister Wanda Key in Heaven. Pallbearers will be Bert's nephews, Bill Williams, Denny Williams, Kenny Williams, Larry Williams, Reese Williams and James Williams. Bert is in the care of: Brewer, Lee & Larkin Funeral Home 103 E.
