Elias Johnson

Elias Johnson, 80, of Bernalillo, NM, went to be with our Lord Jesus on Wednesday March 18, 2020, in Rio Rancho NM.  Elias loved the Lord with all his heart, he would always say “ I am his and he is mine”.  He was a caring and loving husband, father, and grandpa.  Elias retired from Joiner Construction and continued working at Santa Ana Casino for a short time.  Elias loved to listen to all kinds of music and he loved to dance. He was born in La Puente, NM on July 8, 1939 to Juan Johnson and Lilly Morfin.  He is preceded in death by his parents, Juan and Lilly; step-father, Justo Morfin; grandson, E.J. Johnson; brother, Adonice Morfin, sister, Cora Lujan, brother-in-laws, Frutoso Lujan, John Martinez and Harry Sanchez.  He is survived by his loving wife, Marlene Johnson; his children, Velma Garcia (Danny) of Canjilon, Elias Johnson Jr. (Jeannie), Richard Johnson (Tina) of Farmington, Anna Atencio (Andrew) of Corrales, Patricia Dwyer (Shawn) of Albuquerque, Gina Gonzales (James) of Bernalillo, Brenda Mora (Johnny) of Rio Rancho, and Robert Ashe (Tami) of Mississippi; sisters,  Erlinda Lujan, Elsie Martinez of Utah, Theresa Sanchez of La Puente; brother, Albert Morfin (Bernadette) and brother-in-law Johnny Lujan of Utah.   Elias was loved by all his grandchildren, Danette Madrid (Melvin), Rosalie Maes (Jose), Daniel Garcia (Jennifer), Taunya Avalos (Javier), Antonio Johnson, Lavette Hernandez (Matthew), Michael Johnson, Rick Atencio (Desiree), Valerie Atencio (Manuel), Amanda Dwyer (Gavin), Sean Dwyer (Shelia), Justice Gonzales, Shae Gonzales, Jadien Gonzales, Joshua Lyles, Trinity Mora, Desiree Mora, Kasandra Mora, Calyn Ashe, Mark Ashe, and Elisa Ashe.  Elias is also survived by 24 great-grand-children, many nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors.  All his children, grandchildren, great-grand-children meant the world to him.  He would always talk about his testimony and how Jesus saved his life and how important it was to have Jesus in our hearts.  Elias will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
