Elizabeth D. "Beth" Pleus, born December 19, 1936, in Atlanta, Georgia, passed away peacefully on January 3, 2025, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, where she resided for over 60 years. Beth was preceded in death by her husband, John Atwater Pleus, and her beloved daughters, Karen E. Vernay and Kristin L. Pleus, both of Albuquerque. A self-taught pianist from the age of six, Beth possessed a remarkable gift for playing by ear and never needed to read sheet music. Her love for music was a defining part of her life and brought joy to those around her. She also had a passion for gardening and was an active member of the Albuquerque Rose Society for many years, sharing her knowledge and appreciation for nature’s beauty with others. Later in life, Beth pursued a career as a paralegal before becoming an administrative assistant at Sandia National Laboratories. She retired in 2020 after years of dedicated service. Beth was known for her warm presence and sharp wit; she could light up any room she entered with her charm and humor. Her legacy as a "witty southern charmer" will be fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her. May her memory bring comfort to those who loved her and inspire others to cherish life’s simple joys as she did so beautifully.
