She found acceptance at the Off Center and was loved by many there. She created collage art and handmade birthday cards to express herself. Her favorite place to go was downtown, and more specifically Old Town, where she would take long walks with her best friend Clorinda Romero. She would frequently visit the Catholic Church in downtown Albuquerque, as this was one of her favorite places to visit when she was a young adult.
Elsie was a beautiful person inside and out. She had a contagious laugh and smile that would light up the whole room. She cared so deeply for the people around her. She was kind and passionate. She made an impact on many lives and will be forever missed. Until we meet again.
