Emerson Edsitty Sr.

Funeral services for Emerson Edsitty Sr., 62, will be 10 a.m., Monday, Dec. 21, at Cope Memorial Chapel, Gallup. The Rev. Jimmy Edsitty will officiate. Edsitty died Dec. 15, 2009, in Gallup. He was born May 3, 1947, in Rehoboth, into the Towering House People Clan for the Bitter Water People Clan. Edsitty graduated from Fort Sills, Okla., University of New Mexico-Gallup and Grants. Survivors include his wife, Geraldine Denetso of Gallup; son, Emerson Edsitty Jr. of Gallup; daughter, Tamara Edsitty of Gallup; brother, Jimson Edsitty of Prewitt; sisers, Emma Edsitty of Thoreau, Virginia Dansforth of Prewitt, Annie Spencer of Prewitt, Loretta Billie of Prewitt, Mary Ann Gautan of Thoreau Evelyn Edsitty of Texas, Edith Saunders of Thoreau, Jacqueline Phillips of Prewitt, Flora James of Prewitt, Farrah Wilson of Grants; three grandchildren. Edsitty was preceded in death by his parents, Nelson Esitty, Helen James. Pallbearers will be Jimson Edsitty, Alex Segina, Ron Ortiz, Mary Ann Bayton, Ervin Lewis, Loretta Billie. The family will receive relatives and friends at Baca Chapter House, following services. Cope Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements
