Gonzales, Emilio  L
67, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 11, 2015 surrounded by his loving family. He was born in La Joya, NM on April 14, 1948 to Mateo C. and Carmen (Lovato) Gonzales. He was a lifelong resident of Socorro. Emilio was a proud Vietnam Veteran and proudly served in the United States Army from 1968 until 1971. During his life, he always said, "I can do it, I am a Vietnam Vet" - this was his moto he lived by. Emilio enjoyed watching old western movies and listening to Oldies and Spanish music. He was an avid Dallas Cowboys Fan. Emilio loved the outdoors, he liked to hunt, fish and camp. More than anything, Emilio loved just being with his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Manuel and Ernest; and his infant daughter, Sue Ann. Emilio is survived by his devoted children, Michael Gonzales and wife, Raina Phillips; Jennifer Garcia and husband, Jonathan; and Matthew Gonzales and wife, Alisa; his sisters, Helen Gonzales; Isabel Gonzales; Berna Gonzales; Rita Gonzales; Annabelle Lopez and husband, Anthony; Jenny Segura and husband, Mark; Rosalind Martinez; and Sharon Baca and husband, Al; his brother, Gilbert Gonzales and wife, Isabel; and many nieces, nephews, other loving family members and close friends. Grandpa Emilio will live on in the hearts of his 12 grandchildren. The Holy Rosary will be recited on Wednesday, September 16, 2015 at 10:30 am at San Miguel Catholic Church, 403 El Camino Real , Socorro. The Mass of Christian Burial and Resurrection will be celebrated at 11:00 am. Internment will take place in the San Miguel Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers are  Michael Gonzales, Matthew Gonzales, Alvin Gonzales, Fidel Baca, Abie Esquibel, and Martin Lopez. Honorary pallbearers are all of Emilio's loving Family.
