Age 85, passed away Friday, May 4, 2018 at her home in Socorro, NM with her family by her side. She was born in Socorro, NM on December 27, 1932, to Ramon and Petrita Montoya.

Emily was a lifelong resident of Socorro and worked for the Socorro Public Schools for over 20 years and she also worked for National Radio Astronomy Observatory (NRAO) for several years. She was very family oriented and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 44 years, David Mathieu; son, David Mathieu; brothers, George, Phil, Leandro, Herman, and Abel Montoya; sisters, Judy Silva and Betty Montoya. Emily is survived by sons, Jim (Linda) Mathieu, Ray (Naomi) Mathieu, and Steve Mathieu; daughter, Patricia (William) Martell; sister, Rose (Frank) Garcia; brother, Joey (Diana) Montoya; grandchildren, Grace (Ronnie) Gonzales, Joseph, Brook, John, Joy, Phoebe, Timothy, Julia and Hadassah Mathieu, Sharon, Kristen, Micaiah and Robyn Martell; great grandchildren, Zoe, Nathan, David and Mercy Gonzales and Joshua Mathieu. Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 9, 2018, at 9:00 am at San Miguel Catholic Church, 403 El Camino Real , Socorro. Celebrant Rev. John Anasiudu. Burial will take place at San Miguel Catholic Cemetery following service. Pallbearers are Jim Mathieu, Ray Mathieu, Steve Mathieu, Tim Mathieu, Frank Garcia, and Vince Garcia.
