Ernest Begay was born into the Zuni People Clan and born for the Zia People Clan. Survivors include his son, Leandro Eric Begaye of Salt Lake City, Utah; daughters, Rochelle Lynn Begaye and Vanessa Jaye Begaye, both of Farmington, New Mexico; brothers, Emerson Lee Begaye and Kyle Lee Begaye of Salt Lake City; sisters, Shirley M. King of Tohajiilee, New Mexico, Lolita Begay of Salt Lake City, Rita Manus, of Fruitland, New Mexico, Vita Begay of Crownpoint, New Mexico, and Melissa Crank of Monument Valley, Utah; and eight grandchildren. Begay was preceded in death by his parents John Lee Begay and Lucy Whitehorse Begay; and grandparents John Whitehorse, Lena Sloan and Glonzine Begay. Pallbearers will be Edison Sloan, Emerson Lee Begay, Kyle Lee Begay, Van Hudson, Snow King and James Yazzie Jr. Arrangements are entrusted to: Cope Memorial Chapel
