Ernestine Malone

Ernestine Malone, a long-time resident of Carlsbad, NM passed away Saturday, March 14 in Albuquerque, NM. She was born Feb. 2, 1917 in Enid, Okla. to parents: Ernest Rapp and Dessie Taylor Rapp and married Robert M. Malone in 1941 in Kingfisher, Okla. After graduation from high school, she worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company in Enid from 1934 to 1945. In 1946, the couple moved to Carlsbad, and she was a member of the Riverside CC Ladies Golf Assoc. She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Bob; her son, Richard Malone of Tucson, her two daughters, Suzanne & son-in-law Duke Sundt of Las Vegas, NM and Robin Boyd & Andy Boyd of Albuquerque; also survived by her sister, Jodean Chesnut & her brother Doug Rapp. Ernestine was Grandmother to Melinna Boyd, Jamie Boyd. Jodie Sundt and Marilea Sundt Stander. Ernie was a delight to know and her accomplishments were notable. She was an avid golfer (7 holes-in-one to her credit) and a good friend to many. In her very senior years (age 90), she learned water-color painting. We will miss her dearly; she was an inspiration to her family and friends and will be in our memories forever.
