Esther Jenkerson

Esther Grace Jenkerson, age 21, of Datil, NM went home to be with her Savior on November 7, 2016. Esther was born to Harold and Ann Jenkerson in Flagstaff, AZ on October 16, 1995. Esther moved with her family to Datil at the age of three. She was homeschooled until she attended fifth and sixth grade at Datil Elementary School and was then homeschooled through high school. Throughout that time Esther was very active and involved in many activities. She raised sheep and goats through 4-H and was a youth member of the community health council. Esther was dedicated to the service of her Lord and Savior. She was involved in the music ministry at Datil Baptist Church, served as youth leader for the Mountain Baptist Association, and attended youth camp with Bible Baptist Church from Silver City as well as participated in mission work with them in Albuquerque.
Esther graduated from high school in 2014 through the CAPE New Mexico Convention in Albuquerque. She went on to attend Sterling College in Kansas where she was accepted into their athletic training program. She spent her first summer of college interning with First Baptist Church Albuquerque, West in their children’s department. Her second summer, she traveled with Varsity Cheer Camps as an athletic trainer.
Esther is survived by her loving parents Harold and Ann Jenkerson, siblings Keith Jenkerson, Pauli Burrel, Jennifer Heath, Valerie Dickson, Rhonda Keller, Kenneth Jenkerson, Seth Jenkerson, Joseph Jenkerson, and Charles Jenkerson, and a large extended family
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 15th at 10:00am at Datil Baptist Church with a graveside service to follow at the Datil Cemetery. A time of visitation will follow at the Datil School Gymnasium.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made in her memory to either the New Mexico Baptist Children’s Home, 2200 S. Ave. Portales, NM 88130, or the Athletic Training Dept., Sterling College, Advancement Office, 125 W. Cooper, Sterling, KS 67579.
