Surrounded by a circle of love, Esther T. Chavez, took her last earthly breath on November 10, 2024, in Los Lunas, New Mexico. Esther was born on March 27, 1933, in Magdalena, New Mexico to Luis and Adelina Trujillo.
Esther met and married the love of her life, Federico “Fred” Chavez and the two of them raised a family of four children. Esther was known for her humor, unwavering determination, and love for her husband, family, and community. Esther’s joy was working as a Head Start teacher. Her energy and enthusiasm were dancing, teaching others to dance, playing softball, and being with her family and friends.
Preceded in joining the Lord: her husband, Federico Chavez; parents, Luis & Adelina Trujillo; granddaughter, Natalia Moreno; great-grandson, Noah Moreno; sister, Didia Trujillo; brother, Venceslado “Vence” Trujillo; father & mother in-law, Miguel & Eloisa Chavez; sisters in-law, Margaret Baca, Isabel Apodaca, Corine Padilla, & Fedelina Pino; and her brothers in-law, Miguel (Mike) Chavez, Benito (Benny) Chavez.
Survived by: daughters, Erlinda Harmon (Bill), Glenda Chavez (Jesse Orozco), and Delinda Christensen (Dewey); Son, Mauricio Chavez; sisters, Julia Robertson (Joe), Rose Manke (Mike); brother, Leroy Trujillo (MaryAnn); sister-in-law Rose Chavez; 7 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and she is survived by several loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Catholic Committal will take place under the direction of Daniels Family Funerals & Cremation, Wyoming Chapel on November 25, 2024, at 11:30 am at the new San Miguel Catholic Cemetery on Blue Canyon Road, Socorro, New Mexico 87801
