John 3:16 – For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
The best things in life are the people we love, the places we’ve been, and the memories we made along the way.
We are gathered here to celebrate the life of Eugene Howard Bell (Genie), cherished father, son, brother, uncle, and friend. God called Eugene to his final resting place on January 8, 2020 at his home in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Eugene was born August 15, 1960 to Carnella McGowan and Thomas Bell in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He is preceded in death by his father Thomas Bell, son Eugene Bell and stepfather Ray McGowan.
Eugene is survived by his mother Carnella McGowan, daughters Tanica Bell and Brittney Bell, son Brandon Ard, sister Alesia Bell, brother James Bell and sister-in-law Stephanie Bell, fiancé Mary Jackson, grandchildren Dejon, Amari, Tekiyah, Zhariyah and KJ, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and close friends.
Eugene graduated from Albuquerque High (Home of the Bulldogs) in 1978. Eugene would later work with The City of Albuquerque - Thomas Bell Community Center, Transportation and Water Authority for 20+ years until his retirement. Eugene was a pillar of the Albuquerque community and always stayed close to home. He raised four remarkable children and was a father figure to some in the Kirkland community. Family members and close friends would love to sit and just be in Eugene’s presence.
Eugene’s favorite NFL team was the Chicago Bears, he loved to talk football with his family and friends. He would be supportive and play a role in his son Eugene’s games while giving him advice and teaching him the game of football from the sideline. Eugene came out of retirement to referee local New Mexico YAFL games, and also worked at the Isotopes Park.
You would always be able to recognize Eugene whenever he was in the area. He had a certain way with his words that you could recognize him without even seeing him, his tone of voice was very unique. Eugene was always someone you would want to talk to, he stood out for his ability to make you laugh. With emphasis on different words, he always found a way to make you smile. His stories were so animated, and he would leave you laughing.
Eugene was a very kind and Godly man and he will truly be missed by his family and friends, as well as the Albuquerque community.
