Eulemia (Mema) Atencio

Eulemia (Mema) Atencio, beloved Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Sister, Aunt, and Friend went home to our Heavenly Father on December 29, 2020 at the age of 83. She was born on February 16, 1937 in Canjilon, NM, to Abelardo and Rosaura Garcia. She was a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, NM. Mema had a big heart that touched everyone who came in contact with her. She will forever be in our hearts and will be greatly missed by all of us that knew and loved her. We are thankful for the time we had with her and all the beautiful memories she left in our hearts.

Eulemia was preceded in death by her husband, Isaac Atencio; parents, Abelardo and Rosaura Garcia; brothers, Paul and Augustine Garcia; nephews, Leroy Kenneth Garcia and Dwight Morales; father-in-law, Roman Atencio; mother-in-law, Josie Atencio; sisters-in-law, MaryAnn Unthank and Betty Atencio; brother-in-law, Eddie Atencio.

Eulemia is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law: Leonard Atencio (Eileen), Lonnie Atencio (Judy), Andrew Atencio (Anna), Isaac Atencio Jr., David Atencio, and Ronnie Atencio (Jessica). Grandma Mema was loved by all 15 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. She had a special place in her heart for each and every one of them. Also surviving are her brothers and sisters which she loved and was like a mother to them: brothers, Leroy Garcia, Ernesto Garcia (Geraldine), and Danny Garcia (Velma); sisters: Rose Marques (Jessie), Rebecca Leyba (Roman), and Elosia Morales (Jimmy); brothers-in-law: Alfonso Atencio (Nancy), Charlie Atencio and Bill Unthank.

A Visitation will be held Thursday, January 21, 2021 from 2:00 pm – 6:00 pm at Daniels Family Funeral Services, 3113 Carlisle Blvd NE, Albuquerque, NM 87110. Mass will be at held January 22, 2021 at 9:00 am, Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, 9502 Fourth St NW, Albuquerque, NM 87114. A Burial will follow at 11:15 am at Santa Fe National Cemetery, 501 N. Guadalupe St., Santa Fe, NM 87501.
