Evelyn Joyce Baker, 79, of Rio Rancho, NM, peacefully passed away on October 23, 2023 in her home surrounded by her loved ones. Born on May 20, 1944, in Delta, Colorado, she came from a loving family. Evelyn was a dedicated wife, mother, sister, and grandmother who devoted her life to her loved ones.
A woman of deep faith, Evelyn found solace and strength in her worship at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She cherished her church community and actively served in various callings throughout her life.
Evelyn also had a successful career. She was esteemed as a valued employee at General Electric A/E group until her retirement. Her commitment to her work was evident, and her contributions were greatly appreciated.
Beyond her professional endeavors, Evelyn found joy in her personal interests. She had a passion for genealogy, spending hours uncovering the rich tapestry of her family history. She delighted in hosting and attending family get-togethers, where she shared her warm hospitality and delicious home-cooked meals. An avid reader, she sought solace and knowledge within the pages of countless books.
And she and her beloved husband embarked on countless adventures, exploring new places as they traveled together in their 5th Wheel.
Evelyn leaves behind a legacy of love and family. She is survived by her devoted husband, Gordon, who stood beside her through thick and thin. She leaves behind her son, Brian, and his wife Suzy of Albuquerque, NM, who brought endless joy to her life. Evelyn also leaves behind her brother, J.C. Bowerman, and his wife Carol, as well as her cherished sisters, Carol Gifford of Ft. Collins, CO, Ginger Nuanes, and Easter Haynie of Rio Rancho, NM. Her grandchildren, Kaylee Baker, Michael Naus and his wife Ashley, Melanie Baker, and Brian Baker, lit up her life with their presence. She also leaves behind a large extended family, including nieces and nephews, who will forever carry her memory in their hearts.
Evelyn is preceded in death by her loving son, Gerald, her parents, Chester and Gladys Bowerman, and her brothers, 1.0., C.A., and L.D. Bowerman.
A somber and heartfelt graveside service will be held in Delta, Colorado at the Delta Cemetery to honor and pay tribute to the beautiful life of Evelyn Joyce Baker. May her memory be a blessing to all who were touched by her presence.
